Advent Reflection

This Advent our 4 parishes came together at St Lawrence’s church to reflect on the themes of Faith Hope Joy & Peace. Each parish took the lead on one area.

The 4 purple banners intertwined were decorated with the names of parishioners …each parish took a banner away after the service to remember parishioners in prayer

You can listen to the reflections on our Facebook Page

50 years of St Teresa’s church building

History of the parish Stations of the Cross

The beginning of December 2021 was the 50th Anniversary of the opening of our current church building. Becuse of Covid restrictions we couldn’t have a big celebration in the hall but we managed to mark the occasion by creating an exhibition around the church so parishioners could wander ( socially distanced!) with a coffee and explore photos ,memories and some fascinating old documents we had discovered during a lockdown cupboard clearout…

The colours of the rainbow represent emotions felt by parishioners, families , friends and our society throughout the year; sorrow, anger , envy, sadness, fear, stress. Jesus takes all of this and can transform our lives through the overwhelming power of his love.

The stones represent Jesus as a solid rock to support us and we gave thanks for all who shared their strength and commitment throughout the year; NHS workers, delivery drivers, teachers , carers, shop workers, volunteers and many more.

Romans 8: For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

THANKYOU TO ALL IN OUR PARISHES FOR THEIR GENEROSITY & SUPPORT, especially friends from Heaton Churches and the local area.
