About us
The Parish of Christ the King, Newcastle, is a Roman Catholic parish serving the people of Heaton, Byker and Walker, in the East End of Newcastle. As part of the Diocese of Hexham & Newcastle, we are in communion with Bishop Stephen Wright and the Catholic Bishops of the world and strive to be faithful to our inheritance—the deposit of faith preached through the ages—the saving Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Parish is a pillar of faith and community. Our churches have a rich history of serving the spiritual and social needs of our communities, while also fostering a sense of belonging and purpose. From humble beginnings to thriving communities, our parish continues to be a place of worship, support, and community engagement for all. This is because both the parish is both our home and our mission-field. The Gospel is our seed. We strive to serve all those who live in close proximity as well as those who come from a distance to find abundant life through the Sacraments, reverent liturgy, sound Catholic teaching, authentic community and openness to those in need.
Our unifying standard is the glorious Cross of Christ, the instrument of the salvation of the world. We seek to stand beneath the Cross as Mary did on that Friday called Good, steadfast in faith. As the world spins, the Cross stands firm.
Under the patronage of Christ the King we are reminded that Jesus is the king of our hearts, our lives, and our community. We also claim as our patrons St. Teresa of the Infant Jesus, St Lawrence and St Anthony of Padua. Our patron saints remind each one of us that a life of holiness is possible in today’s modern world. They help and inspire us through their example to live good, holy, and charitable lives, just like they did as they were making their own pilgrimage through life on earth.

‘Come & See’
A Night of Light
‘Come & See’ is the invitation that Jesus gave to the first of his disciples and its the same invitation that he extends to us. The parish of Christ the King, opens it’s doors to invite people in to simply light a candle, to say a prayer, to have chat, or to simply just be before the Blessed Lord, present in the Blessed Sacrament.

‘Come & Pray’
A house of Prayer
My Fathers house shall be a house of prayer – these are the words we hear from Jesus in Jerusalem. Here at the parish of Christ the King, our churches are places of prayer where you can pray, rest, and listen to God speaking to your heart. Because of this, the doors of St. Teresa’s Church are open to all, from 9am to 4pm Monday-Friday
