Encountering Jesus
Serving all

“The whole life of the parish is harmoniously ordered to preserving the continual remembrance of God. By the celebration of the Eucharist and the Divine Office, by reading and meditating on the Sacred Scriptures, by private prayer, and by study, we should strive to have the same mind as Christ Jesus

Parish Prayer Life

Prayer is central to our relationship with God, it is that way in which we talk to him. and in turn the way that God speaks to us. There are many different way and traditions of praying, but all are there to help us develop and strengthen our relationship with God.

As a family of parishes we are blessed to be able to celebrate the Holy Mass everyday. This is the ‘Source and Summit’ of our Christian Life, where we receive Jesus in Holy Communion, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity. To help those who are unable to attend Mass, due to sickness or infirmity, Holy Mass is live-streamed on the Parish Facebook page on a Saturday Evening at 5.30pm and on a Sunday Morning at 11.00am.

On a Sunday Evening, we are blessed to be able to bring our day to an end with Sung Vespers (Evening Prayer) and Benediction. This simple but beautiful service allows us to thank God for all the blessings that we have received throughout the day by bringing it to prayer. Again, to help those who are sick or infirm to join us, this liturgy is live-streamed on the Parish Facebook Page every Sunday at 5.00pm.

In addition to the celebration of Holy Mass, Fr. Jonathon also live-streams Morning and Evening Prayer everyday (except Wednesday). Morning Prayer takes place at 7.30am and Evening Prayer at 5.00pm.

Mass Intentions

The Holy Mass is the public prayer of the Church, the place where we are made to be Church and exercise the dignity of making Christ in his Pascal Mystery present for one another and for the world.

The dedication of Masses (the Mass Intention) is a tradition that has remained constant since the primitive age of Christianity.

A Mass Intention is the highest form of intercessory prayer that a Christian can offer. When a priest celebrates a Mass for a special intention, he is offering the celebration of the Eucharist for a particular person (or intention), who then receives the graces of that Mass.

Individuals may request a priest to offer Mass for a loved one for various reasons, such as

The repose of one who has died
Celebrations of occasions such as birthdays or anniversaries
Thanksgiving for graces received
For one in physical or spiritual trouble

To request a Mass Intention, contact the Parish Office on 0191 265 5290 or email Christtheking.newcastle@diocesehn.org.uk

Eucharistic Adoration

The parish is blessed to have Eucharistic Adoration everyday. It is always a blessing to come and spend time with Jesus, who is truly present in the Blessed Sacrament.

Details about Adoration can be found on the follow link

Parish Prayer List

Each week a list of those in need of prayers are listed in the bulletin. If you know of  someone sick or house bound and in need of prayer support, please contact the parish office to have them added to the list so that we may all pray together as a parish.
